Pride Parade
The festivity of the Pride celebration is truly inspiring, especially when you are part of that community. The cheering streets, bright colors, unbelievable unique characters walking around the casual streets, and a floating feeling of love and solidarity spreading through the air.
The Pride Parade illustration series is my impression of all the LGBT+ community celebrations.
Inspiration Board
When I am looking for visual references, I find inspiration in the most unlikely things. For example a color palette from random clothes out of my wardrobe, or a concept out of a children’s book.
My brain is a library of many unnecessary visual memories, which in the end turn out to be actually useful.
Sketches
For this project, I’ve done sketches in my sketchbook. As the theme of this project is somewhat personal for me, I preferred working on the sketchbook in a closer, cozier atmosphere, where there are no thousands of pixels between me and my idea, but just paper and pencil.
For me sketching is one of the most enjoyable processes.
Visual Development
Some illustrations take more time in terms of visual development. Let’s say I have the overall image in my head, but in reality, something feels off. The colors, the hairstyles, and even physical appearances are changed a lot until I reach the design that corresponds most to the image in my head.
